Dr. Michael R. Mijares is a Sports Medicine fellowship-trained, Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee.

I'm composing this on December 16, 2023. On August 4, 2023, I experienced a work-related injury that resulted in breaking my femur. I was implanted with a titanium rod, skillfully placed by Dr. Michale Mijares. He received a last-minute call to perform the surgery, and since then, he and his staff have taken excellent care of me. All three of my follow-up appointments were a breeze, thanks to his great staff (shout out to the radiologists!). My first appointment with him on August 17, 2023, I was able to walk with assistance from my walker, fiancé, and mom—covering about 13 steps before needing a wheelchair. At my final appointment on December 12, 2023, I was able to drive myself and walk to his office. In a relatively short time, I reached a level of maximum medical improvement. I was referred to Dr. Mijares office after a fall that injured my shoulder. At my first visit he listened to what happened and referred me to get an MRI. The radiologist who read my results reports found nothing, however, when Dr Mijares looked at my results he found a piece of cartilage that had sheared off. Dr. Mijares advice was to have it remove and to also do some manipulation. He was very informative as to the procedure of my surgery. I’m so thankful that I followed his advice. My surgery was on a Friday. Dr Mijares called me the following morning (Saturday) to see how I was doing and give me instructions to start light therapy at home. I am 6 weeks post op and I’m doing better than I thought. Dr Mijares is a kind and caring Doctor. Each appt is never rushed. Thank you Dr Mijares for helping on my road to recovery.

Dr. Michael Mijares is by far the most extraordinary doctor I have ever met! And that's saying a lot because with all the family members I have cared for, I've met many doctors. He is extremely dedicated to his craft. He is an orthopedic surgeon who also performs total reverse shoulder replacements, which is a highly specialized surgery. He recently did this operation on my 79-year-old mother with a great result. She is finally pain-free! Dr. Mijares uses a surgical planning protocol called signature one, where my mom's scans were turned into 3D models, thereby allowing the doctor to extensively pre-plan the operation with amazing precision. My mom's case was quite complicated in that she had bone loss in her shoulder joint, so the prosthetic used had to be highly specific to her needs and replace pieces of bone that had been lost. After the surgery Dr. Mijares even gives his patients his own cell phone number and encourages you to call with any questions or concerns. He is genuinely invested in seeing his patients have the very best outcome. He walked with us every step of the way and celebrated each milestone victory towards my mom's complete recovery- lots of great encouragement! Our family just can't say enough about this incredible doctor, his expertise, and excessively rare, wonderful bedside manner. We highly recommend Dr. Michael Mijares, he is simply the best! Many thanks to him and his outstanding team.

From the first time I met Dr. Mijares I knew he was the perfect doctor for me. He is very personable and highly intelligent. His bedside manner is excellent. He took the time needed to fully explain my shoulder - rotator cuff issue, and how he could fix it. At my next appointment I brought my wife and he took the time to explain it all to her as well, exhibiting patience and intelligence again. The surgery went smoothly as did the exercises he immediately prescribed for me, as well as physical therapy two weeks later. My follow up visits similarly were full of information about my progress and the future. After five months I was supposed to take a long trip and my recovery had completely prepared me for it. I highly recommend that you consider Dr. Mijares for your orthopedic issues. I think you will be very satisfied.
